Don’t ask a photographer to shoot you!

I go out and shoot a lot recently, and every time I shoot in any attraction or on the street. I got asked many times to shoot a group photo or their portrait with their phone and I was happy to help them. Every time, I had to switch my head, and recall the scene in my vision, the frame I picked, and wait for someone to enter the frame but after I took the photos for someone else, The spot was taken, and the light, and shadow were gone.

Imagine, I have a beautiful sunset in my eyes and the light makes an interesting shadow shape, and someone asks me to take a group photo of them for a couple of minutes and the scene is gone. The sun is set, and the light is gone. Even if I decline to take a photo of them, I would still lose my focus (in my head, not in camera focus).

You might think It is a good idea to ask a real photographer who has a big camera on their neck to shoot you with your friends. The truth is the phone camera these days can allow anyone to take a nice photo with minimal photography skill. You can just ask anyone else and get the photos good enough for your social post just don’t ask a photographer to shoot you!

This is how I imagine myself when I get asked to shoot a group photo with their phone.
